Songs on Request: Celebrating Life With Music

We write, arrange, produce and record affordable, one-of-a-kind original songs about anyone, anything, and for any occasion. A birthday, your best friend, a wedding, an anniversary, a special moment. It can be funny, serious, celebratory, romantic, whatever you want, in a style of your choosing—rock, country, folk, blues, disco, swing—with a wide range of possible instrumentation, including guitar, keyboard, fiddle, dobro, drums, harmonica, and bass.

Songs On Request is Jim Henry and Sean Meyer, two long-time friends in the hills of Western Massachusetts, plus occasional assists from other talented musicians.

Jim Henry… Described by many as one of the "best side men in the business," Jim is a multi-facted music professional best known for his soulful, jaw-dropping guitar playing. He is an accomplished recording artist and produce, and an award-winning instrumentalist and songwriter. Sean Meyer… Runs the business. He is no stranger to the power of words to communicate powerful, moving ideas. A public interest advocate, Sean is a former senior copywriter and public relations executive. He's written ads, slogans, and political speeches as well as song lyrics. Let's start with you sending us an e-mail.

Sean will get back to you very promptly, and he will ask you a number of questions, starting with the perennial favorites—who, what, when, and why—that will give us a sense of what it is you wish to celebrate and why. We have an uncanny knack for getting to know people we have never met, and may never meet.

We'll talk about the style and tone of the song, types of instruments, when you need the song completed, etc. You won't get charged a dime until you decide that you would like to work with us, and we have a mutual understanding of what you are trying to accomplish and how much it will cost. After this initial back and forth, we'll send you a proposal with a description of your song, the completion date, and the cost. The cost will depend on the character of the song you want us to create. A simple song with original lyrics, guitar and vocal could cost as little as $400 - $500.

Once our agreement is signed, we'll start the project. From that point it typically takes 3 - 4 weeks to finish—with your involvement at various points to make sure we're on the right track.

For us to do a good job, we'll need your help and that of others. The more we know about your special person, moment, couple, the better. Think of your song as a tailored suit or a handmade gown: the more we talk, the better it will fit! We'll need some phone conversations and email exchanges, with you telling us stories and giving suggestions of other people we could talk to.

Then the fun starts. Jim and Sean talk through what we've learned from you, brainstorm, play around with lyrics. We may be back in touch for more information or clarification.
